There are 5 layers of the ocean: Sunlight Zone, Twilight Zone, Midnight Zone, the Abyss, and Trenches. Most jellyfish live in the Twilight Zone, about 650 to 3,300 feet below the ocean surface, just beyond the reach of sunlight. Some species of anglerfish live in the Midnight Zone or even deeper in the Abyssal Zone, over 6,600 feet below the ocean’s surface where there is a complete absence of sunlight. Anglerfish use the light upon their head to lure prey.
