When Pluto was discovered in 1930, it was declared to be the ninth planet from the Sun. Beginning in the 1990s, its status as a planet was questioned following the discovery of several objects of similar size also located in the Kuiper belt. In 2006, the International Astronomical Union formally reclassified Pluto as a dwarf planet. Shown here with its five known moons, we pay homage to Pluto’s short lived planet status in this cosmic charm.
